The Adelphi Racing Club landed three promising yearlings at the FT Saratoga sale for New York Breds! This is annually one of our favorite sales to shop and we couldn't be more excited to have come away with three exciting prospects...
Hip 322- An Arrogate Colt out of stakes placed mare - Kitty Panda
This was trainer Christophe Clement's favorite horse for the first day of the sale and we loved him as well so instead of bidding against each other we decided to join forces and partner up! Christophe is very familiar with this family having trained the dam (Kitty Panda) and a couple of siblings including Panster who is a three-time winner for the Clements and still actively in training. Christophe also trained the 2nd dam who was unplaced in one lifetime start but she produced stakes winner Akilina (also trained by Christophe) and that one produced stakes winner and Jim Dandy stakes runner up - Governor Malibu (also trained by Christophe). The 2nd dam also produced 7x winner Blue Devil Bel (also trained by Christophe) who went on to produce major stakes winner and current Stallion - Audible. Suffice to say this is a very productive female family and that Christophe has extensive experience training them (a powerful combo).
Hip 340- A Hard Spun Colt out of stakes placed mare - Made On A Mission
After striking early on in night one with the Arrogate colt, we were able to snag a very nice Hard Spun out of a young stakes placed Strategic Mission dam. Our Hard Spun is the mares second foal (none have raced but she does have a 2-year-old in training out of Bernardini and a weanling by War of Will as well).
This horse has a BEAUTIFUL physical and very strong walk (check out the walk video below) and looks the part of a very nice sprinter/miler type in NY. He'll be trained by Ray Handal.
Hip 423- A Tonalist filly out of stakes placed mare - Speightstown Lady
Family familiarity was the theme for us at this sale with trainer Christophe Clement as we capped our buying when we landed this striking filly by Tonalist (who of course was Clement's Belmont Stakes winner). This filly impressed us the whole weekend as she exudes class and has very good size/length for a mid-April foal. Christophe loved her and commented that she was one of the most athletic fillies at the entire sale. The filly will obviously be trained by Christophe Clement.
