More Than Ready/Trace Of Grace PA Bred
Boy did this filly have a presence about her! We loved her all week and my appreciation for her was heightened even more as she strutted around the walking ring in the half an hour prior to her entering the auction ring. She’s a powerful daughter of More Than Ready, out of a multiple stakes winning dam who was an 8x time winner and earned of nearly a half million dollars and she just commanded the attention of everyone throughout the entire sales process.
The Breeze:
This filly delivered a 10.0 breeze and did it the “right way” as she was just ”cruising” by the time she hit the wire. She galloped out 2-furlongs in a very strong 21.1 and completed the 3-furlong gallop out in 34.1. She looks the part and moved like a powerful dirt sprinter/miler!
The Pedigree:
She’s by top class sire – More Than Ready and is out of the multiple stakes winning dam – Trace Of Grace (who is by the very underrated broodmare sire – Petionville). This filly is a registered PA bred as well so she’s eligible for all of the PA bred restricted stakes which is a huge advantage for her during her racing career and is also an advantage for us in making her a very attractive broodmare prospect as she can more easily earn blacktype, by winning or placing in one of those highly restricted PA bred stakes vs. having to rely on doing it against open company horses! She has the top class sire, she’s by a stakes winning dam and she’s got an “unfair advantage” in terms of her potential to become a stakes performer herself due to the PA bred angle…That’s a deadly combination for creating a highly valuable broodmare prospect!
The Plan:
This filly is ADVANCED, so much so that we are foregoing the 30-60 day break we almost always give to 2-year-old in sales purchases and have shipped her straight into trainer Ray Handal’s Belmont Park barn. She’s just too forward to not keep going with her. We’ll of course be patient if she tells us she needs to slow down but for now we’re dreaming about an early debut for this talented filly!
